Product Description

C-3000 Hamilton Changer Controller

The C-3000 Controller was developed as a direct replacement for previous controllers used with Hamilton changers. This allows a single controller to work across multiple changer types without needing multiple controller models.

The C3000 controller software is determined by using combinations of the DIP switches located on the inside of the controller's housing, on the circuit board. After the C-3000 is set up for the proper changer type, programming is completed using the Hamilton Handheld Programmer (#100-0136) or by setting the lettered "programming" DIP switches on the controller's face, depending on the needs of your change machine. It is highly recommended that the Handheld be stored in a “room temperature” area. Extreme heat or cold has been known to cause damage to the Handheld hardware.

Setting DIP Switches

The initial setup of the C-3000 controller begins with determining the type of changer model you have and then configuring the DIP switches on the C3000 to match the specific needs of that particular changer.
There are four different types of changer controllers that the C-3000 can mimic:

  • C-2000 – Used in changers with simpler pay-outs. Typically, all hoppers will feature a single coin type, and the payouts are straightforward (e.g., 4 quarters for $1).  It can only control one single validator.
  • Audit Pro – This is used when a changer has more unique payouts, either with hoppers that all have different coin types, or where payouts aren’t as generic (often in token scenarios). This controller is more commonly seen in Hamilton's larger changers, which have two or more hoppers and potentially even more than one validator. In a 2-validator changer, the machine would use two controllers:  The primary or "master" controller, which holds all the programming and operates one of the validators. A secondary or “slave” controller, connected directly to the primary/master controller, solely exists to operate a second validator.
  • DCC – The "DAN Changer Controller" is used to connect to a DAN over a local area network. Connection to the DAN provides enhanced auditing and the ability to monitor the status of the changer in the event of an error.
  • DTV – The "DAN Token Vendor" is used in a changer that features a card swipe. Its main purpose is to let someone swipe their credit card for a predetermined token payout. It can also check the balance on Hamilton's customer value cards (CVCs) if applicable. The DTV also requires a network connection to the DAN to process cards.

Installation

Installation and uninstallation of the changer controller is very simple. The controller’s hardware will be mounted to the cabinet wall of your change machine on at least one stud, one at the top of the controller, and maybe one underneath. Remove the nut(s) on each stud, and the controller should be free to be removed or installed on the cabinet wall. On the underside of the C-3000, there are a few connections that need to be disconnected. *NOTE: Always turn off the power to the changer before plugging or unplugging any devices for your safety and the safety of the equipment.

  1. This is the main harness connection that provides power and communication for the controller to work with the rest of the change machine. NOTE: Pay attention to the "notch" on the connector to avoid plugging it in backwards.
  2. This serial connection is for the Handheld Programmer (cable #48-2111A) and, depending on your model of changer, the secondary or "slave" controller’s communication input.
  3. This is the RJ45 connection, which is an alternative Handheld port (cable #48-3053). NOTE: The Handheld works the same in either the serial or RJ45 port.

For advanced installation information, please consult the operation manual found under the "Manuals" section on this page.
